Vidic wins bumper new Man Utd contract

    tribalfooball.com - September 28, 2007

Nemanja Vidic has been tabled a bumper new four-year contract by Manchester United.

The Serbian ace is less than two years into his present deal.

But his performances have prompted a double-your-money deal from United's board worth £50,000 a week.

Boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes with Vidic alongside Rio Ferdinand he has a defensive backbone to keep United walking tall for years to come.

Ferguson said: "The quality Nemanja has is that he is so brave. He is a great defender and he's a real threat up front as well.

"He can play too but, importantly, he doesn't mess about at the back."

Vidic scored four goals last season and Ferguson believes he can improve on that this season.

Fergie added: "He is prepared to put his head in and that always makes him a threat up front. He can easily get 10 this season."

Vidic, 26 next month, insisted: "I plan to score lots of goals this year. If they come off my head, my feet or stomach, I don't mind. I want to help the team win more matches."

is terry worth 100 grand more than vidic??

He's the single biggest threat in the Premiership from set pieces. He's ****ing awesome in the air and every United corner is a massive goal threat.

He was always going to come good after a slow start because he is a good player.

I'm still pleased though that we got Agger though because he will be a fixture in our team for years to come.

To be honest I think that Agger - vidic would be close to the ideal central defensive partnership. I think Vidic would have been a more natural swap for Sami but I love the fact we have a ball playing CB so it seems like a situation where everone came out pretty well off.
