Russia play Israel and Andorra (Andorra have 0 points so far, so thats 3 points then). 3 points definitley, plus a game against a team with nothing left to play for. Russia will take 6 points IMO and so England are out.

It's very likely, but it's still possible that Israel might avoid defeat at home to the Russians.

Just watched the game. Very poor from McClaren.

Downing at left back? WTF? With those changes he should've gone 3 at the back, 4 across midfield with Gerrard on the right and Downing on the left, raining crosses in for Crouch, with Lampard & Barry in the middle. Rooney off the front two.

What he did instead was utterly pointless.

Mourinho for McClaren is an obvious move - probably too obvious for the FA. Sack McClown NOW. If England qualify, great for them, carry on with Jose...obviously...with momentum going into the Euros. If they go out, never mind, they've already got their new man in place and Mourinho can start 'building' for the World Cup qualification campaign. **** it. What have the FA got to lose?

FWIW I can't see Russia winning in Israel. They're piss-poor travellers and the Israelis are strong at home. Draw for me.

England were OK today, certainly not as pooras when they played Croatia away. Gerrard continued his poor form, missed a bloody sitter (i bet fat frank would have scored )

I think McLaren's Ladybird Easy-reader level of coaching suits English players best. Most of them can barely control the ball, let alone the game. Intelligent coaching would probably be wasted on them - they are more likely to listen to their agents, or wives and girlfriends than some intellectual with a funny accent.
