Really missing Brown in midfield. Hutton and Naismith are also being missed from defence.
We missed Hartley, McCulloch, Brown, Hutton and Naysmith. All 5 of them would have played tonight if fit. Lets hope they're all fit and ready for the match against Italy.

I've got to work on that Saturday and I'll definitely miss watching the match. I'll listen on the radio but that's even more nail biting at times.

We need to beat Italy now...it's hard to see that happening. Our last hope is that the French, somehow, slip up in their next two matches.
Final game away to Ukraine won't be easy.

          Why wasn't Ross Wallace selected?

That said too many players just didn't perform tonight.
The difference for me on the night was that Georgia used the wide areas well and passed the ball around with alot of zip where as we looked quite laboured and basically knocked the ball around in front of their back four. Georgia looked like they could easily get in behind us out wide which was worrying.

The whole team was poor and I still can't believe that we never had a shoot on sight policy to try and put that rookie keeper under more pressure. We never put enough crosses into the box and he looked far from assured on the few times that we did.

          Poor performance tonight from everyone.

The Italy match is massive now. I'm not sure we can actually beat them though but at least we'll give it a go.

They could be two points ahead of us by then though meaning that, assuming they get a point, we'll still have to beat the Italians. If they lose over there then a point would be enough.

It's quite close but it's not in our hands now, imho. Technically it is but the Italy match is a big ask.

That's very possible at this stage. England will need more of a mjor shake up than the rest of us though if they don't qualify. Mclaren would surely be out of a job.

Scotland seems to be moving in the right direction (even though I know nothing about Scottish football), but the rest look **** especially Wales.

I agree about McLaren he's finished, the FA will go foriegn again for their next manager

We're moving in the right direction and if we have our first eleven available we are much better than what we have been for years. Our squad isn't deep enough yet but there are a few players coming through who might make the step up.

England on the other hand should be qualifying without any problems. With the quality of players that's available they should be beating teams like Macedonia at home etc...

It's a shame they have such a poor manager though. As you say they will probably go for a foreign manager with proven pedigree next time.

It says it all that Scotland (until the loss in Georgia) were in with a good shout of qualifying from a group with Italy and France in it, while England are now relying on outside help to get through a group where the biggest threats are, in the context of world football, ****e.

I wonder if this campaign might have been enough to raise Scotland's seeding for when the draw is made for the 2010 world cup qualifiers?

Henry has scored twice for France.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Well we're, apparently, rated at number 17 in the world now so hopefully it will have a positive effect for us even if we do fail to qualify.

Regardless of what happens now I don't think we could have asked for much more from our lads.

It's a real kick in the teeth though, after beating Ukraine and two wins against the french, that you get beat by sodding Georgia though

Still holding out hope for Italy to get beat at Ukraine and/or Hampden.
