    Terry out for a month

England captain John Terry to have operation

Chelsea defender John Terry will undergo surgery on his knee today.

Terry will be ruled out of action for up to a month and could miss England's crucial Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia on Nov 21.

The defender, 26, was assessed by Chelsea medical staff yesterday afternoon after breaking down during England training in Moscow on Tuesday.

On his return from Russia, Terry headed straight to Chelsea's training ground from Luton airport.

Terry had been hoping to carry on playing without having to resort to surgery.

However, an operation is needed on the piece of bone floating in his left knee.

The centre-back has recently been playing whilst wearing a protective mask after he was caught by an elbow from Fulham's Clint Dempsey two weeks ago.

Terry has told England coach Steve McClaren he will do everything in his power to be fit for the Croatia game next month.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Some people were hit by the ugly stick when they were born.

Terry seems to be falling out of the ugly tree throughout life, painfully hitting each branch on the way down.
              Oh I don't know.

That's what happens when you play on with an injury. You put more pressure on other parts of your body and you will pick up another injury.

Terry plays with a broken toe and that means that he will make movements that he usually don't do.

                  I agree.

And people want Torres to play if he isn't 100% fit.

I kinda agree with that (hope he isnt though!) he does seem to want to push himself through any injury he has had and seems to be developing more serious injuries. Whilst it is commendable to want to bust a gut to play for club and country, some does have to have a word with him about thisand point out the long and short term problems.

Ashley Cole is also out for a month.

I may or may not be happy about that news, and nothing I say about that can be taken seriously.
