    Afonso Alves...

Scored 2 more goals today for Heerenveen.

Havent seen anything of him, other than his awesome goalscoring record.

Anyone shed any light on him? How good is he?

    Worth a look?

Anyone with that record is worth a look IMO. He wont cost big bucks and is bound to chip in with a few

    Not seen him play though
Contrary to popular belief, I have huge genitals.

He is available for around £10m

He is better than Crouch, Voronin or Kuyt.

The "problem" is that he is lazy but we need an out and out goalscorer so I would sign him up.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

If we had Torres beating the defense all day long and getting a load of goals then we could have him there knocking in the rest.

He reminds me a bit of Baptista from what I've seen on youtube

I have seen him live three times when he played for Malmö and before that Örgryte.

He isn't that quick but he has great vision. He is a freekick specialist and we really need one.

If I would compare him to someone then it would be Trezeguet with the bonus that he is a freekick specialist.

Trezeguet isn't excellent at anything other than scoring goals.

He has scored 47 goals in 41 games so far for Heerenveen.

I don't really care that it's a **** league. Not even Huntelaar is close to that and he plays for a better team in the same league.

10 goals in four games so far this season.

              ****ing hell!!!
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

He didn't do any proper pre-season either, or more less no pre-season at all and he still bangs them in.

No, the Swedish media follows him very closely because he used to play in Sweden.

He refused to play for Heerenveen and has only played a few weeks for them this season.

I have seen him play a few times and my perspective is that whilst he seemingly doesnt do anything that would make you think "wow..that was brilliant" he has an uncanny knack for 2 things. Being in the right place at the right time, and finishing. To be fair as a striker thats pretty much all you need! But try telling Rafa that eh?!
I would still prefer Huntelaar but Id certainly take alves over the shower of **** we currently have.

That's what I said. Like Trezeguet.

He is excellent in scoring goals but not excellent at anything else.

So he's the exact player we need then?

The next striker I want is someone who is going to sit on the 6 yard line and get the goals all day long

Probably why Rafa is interested. We need to score more goals.

BTW How is Podolski getting on? He was the next big thing, but seemed to have an awful season last year!
