Vagner love WTF?? Did you ever think you'd see the day that a Brazilian that was playing in the Russian league would be one of Brazil's main striker

Couldn't give a flying feck if he's 'lazy' but scores a sh!t load of goals every season. I'd rather have a lazy goalscorer than a very hard working defensive striker who couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo.

As for Alves, I have never seen him play a full game before. I've seen some of his goals on the various highlight clips on the net and he obviously knows where the back of the net is but I have no idea what his all round game is like or whether he'd suit the premiership.

One thing that strikes me odd about Alves is, if he's so sh!t hot in the Dutch league why haven't PSV, Ajax or Feynoord signed him yet? Is he too expensive?

He has scored 47 goals in 41 games so far for Heerenveen.

Kuyt scored 80 in about 110 games in that league, and he's ****ing rubbish. That is a mind-boggling stat considering how poor Kuyt is. It just shows what a crap league it is.

van Nistelrooy was an obvious exception but generally speaking I wouldn't touch a striker from the Dutch league with a barge-pole.

He is excellent in scoring goals but not excellent at anything else.

to be fair, some of those 7 goals he banged in that game were down to some **** goalkeeping and defending, even the Crow could have put some of those away.

Manchester City have agreed a fee with Heerenveen for striker Afonso Alves.

De Telegraaf says City boss Sven Goran Eriksson has settled on a £15 million fee for the Brazilian with his Dutch club.

It's been suggested City could include former Heerenveen striker Georgios Samaras to bring down the cash component.
