Future of Valencia coach Sanchez Flores under review

MADRID, Oct 28 (Reuters) - The future of Valencia coach Quique Sanchez Flores is under review after the side lost 3-0 away to Sevilla in the Primera Liga, the club said on Sunday.

"Later tonight, the board is going to meet to analyse the sporting situation of the club, and to come to some conclusions," a spokesman for the board said at the post match news conference in the Sanchez Pizjuan.

The meeting will take place in Valencia once the team returns from Seville.

Valencia were second best throughout against Sevilla on Sunday but remain fourth in the standings, four points behind leaders Real Madrid.

They are third in Champions League Group B after a surprise 2-0 defeat away to Rosenborg last week.

Sanchez Flores has just started his third season at the helm of Valencia but has endured a lot of criticism from home fans for the club's patchy and at times unimpressive displays.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

well, it's official Quique is gone. Maybe they can play some decent football with that squad they have with a decent manager.

        Valencia sensationally sack coach Flores
        tribalfooball.com - October 29, 2007

Valencia have sensationally sacked coach Quique Sanchez Flores after yesterday's 3-0 defeat to Sevilla.

AS says the decision was made in a dawn meeting this morning by the club's board, with it being agreed that Flores will immediately be replaced by youth coach Oscar Fernandez.

Valencia spokesman Jesus Wollstein confirmed the decision today, along with news that the players will be made aware of Flores' dismissal personally by president Juan Soler at training at 11am. Flores will also hold a media conference at 11:30am.

Flores had been in charge of Valencia for little over two years and leaves just days away from their clash with Liga leaders Real Madrid. Valencia currently lies in fourth position on the table.

You really can't blame him for the way they have played. More or less every creative player has been out injured.

Nah, his tactics and stubbornness was the reason that team would never get ahead. Even with a more a less fit team and a full squad he can't beat decent teams. Always too defensive etc. And his squad has been almost all fit this season the injuries hit last season.

Also, he is the reason Trezeguet and Sneijder didn't join Valencia because he preffered Arizmendi If they were smart they would've kept Carboni and gotten rid of him last season.

Well, he started in a bad way when he took charge at Valencia and then he opted to start playing the team like Rafa did with Silva in the Aimar position.

they are a very good side, but from what I remember last season, they were well within the title race, but kept losing critical home games and just fell away.

Would happily take David Villa and David Silva off their hands if all this boardroom fighting unsettles them!
