    Koeman gets Valencia job

Don't really rate him. Bit of a strange one?

Valencia have appointed Ronald Koeman as their new manager.

Koeman, 44, left his post in charge of PSV Eindhoven earlier this week and has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Spanish outfit.

Former Holland and Barcelona defender Koeman replaces Quique Sanchez Flores, who was sacked after Sunday's 3-0 defeat at Sevilla.

"We wanted to sign an internationally recognised coach," said Valencia president Juan Soler.

"We are convinced we will be in very good hands. He knows what Valencia's objectives are, he knows the squad and he will bring us the success we want."

Koeman managed Benfica before switching to PSV Eindhoven and helped the club to the Dutch league title last season, claiming a dramatic title race on goal difference.

His appointment comes after reports ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho had rejected an approach from Valencia to manage the club.

"Valencia have a lot of quality players and we have to use them to strike the right balance in the team," said Koeman.

"The fans are very demanding but that is not a problem if you have good players. Football is for the fans and you have to ensure they enjoy themselves.

"What we have to do now is get the balance right between entertainment and results.

"I'm really looking forward to coaching Valencia and leading them to the position where they should be."

Van der Vaart will follow him in January.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

He's decent enough. Won the Dutch league last season. Some may see this move as a stepping stone to Barca.

I wasn't at all impressed with his Benfica and PSV teams.

Not sure what he'll bring to Valencia, but doesn't strike me as a good appointment.
A humble guy with healthy desire.

Know a few Valencia fans after working out there for a bit and they think this appointment makes it certain that VDV wont ever join. Not sure why but thats what they think.

              Disastrous appointment.

It's a shame because La Liga may well revert back into being a 2 horse race again after Sevilla and Valencia have been so badly weakened by resignations and appointments.

I really did think Maureen would take this job, Valencia has money, some very very good players and the ability to grow.
Not sure how well Koeman will do there.
Perhaps someone like Atletico will step into the vacuum?

Lets get Quique Flores in as Rafa's number 2.

                      Quique is exactly like Rafa.

Stubborn, boring football, un-adventurous. We want him for what?!

Maureen is probably waiting for the Milan job and it looks like he won't need to wait that much longer. Milan is already out of the title race and will soon also be out of the top four race.

That was initially thought by everyone, now both van der Vaart and Koeman said they want to work with each other again and are ready to put the past behind them. Rafa wants the move badly, he posed with a Valencia shirt pre season. Koeman's said the first player he wants is him so it looks like it could very well happen.

Quique is a more defensive version of Rafa if anything. That and his rotations seem to take the piss. Rafa usually has reasoning behind his.

Koemans first game will be in the CL against Rosenburg they'll kill him if he loses, I think he well could.

Didn`t get the best of starts.
It will be hard to win Mestallaback after losing vs Rosenborg.

It will probably be a clear out starting in January. Wouldn't be surprised if we will see an almost new starting XI next season.
