If they did it there would be arguements on who will be the home team. I could see the games being quite friendly when Ireland, Scotland and Wales all play each other but the problems could be when Republic Ireland V Northen Ireland and England V everyone as they have the biggest hooligan eliment.

I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

Err, bit late there mate, both in terms of posting and in coming up with an idea that has been already been brewing in the footy world for a while now!

That would be embarassing, playing against garbage like wales, rep of ireland, whilst the cream of europe are playing in Euro 2008. imagine what you would rather do as an england player. A. playing in the nonsensical home nations. or B. Relax on a beach somewhere and come back refreshed for the new campaign.

Now that probably is trueOriginally posted by RedProf View PostBad idea. Imagine this 2nd rate show going on whilst the real action happens over in Austria/Switzerland. Anyway, England would come bottom of the tournament.

The FA have always been against this idea since whenever it was they walked away from the Home Internationals. Presumably they now need the money to pay for the Wembley cost overrun..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

I don't think so, I mean how embarrassing, how arrogant.Originally posted by disco View PostThat would be fantastic!

None of us could make it to the proper championships so lets make our own up. FFS. We could call it the U-HOOFA Cup I suppose.
We all need to strip it back and start all over again and rushing into a waste of time cup competition is going to be good for nobody.

It might be embarrassing but I'm not convinced that it is arrogant. Particularly for England it would be a very useful exercise in terms of trying to get a new coach to impose his pattern of play in competitive games while also making money. Assuming of course we are looking at getting a coach before the end of the euros.Originally posted by FatTony View PostI don't think so, I mean how embarrassing, how arrogant.

I'm thinking arrogant on the basis that we haven't qualified so lets make our own competition up.Originally posted by dww View PostIt might be embarrassing but I'm not convinced that it is arrogant. I just don't think its a good idea. They'd be a policing nightmare too and the last thing I'd want is for Carra or Gerrard to be out injured for the sake of a made up cup.
Thats the problem with a home nations cup. Each game would be like a derby game and the potential for inury would be pretty high. You'd also have red cards and bans to deal with. You're also bound to get some crowd trouble and how would this help our chances of getting a world cup?
Too many negatives for me.
