    Billy Davies sacked

    What a joke.

They lost to Chelsea - wow, crisis time! Must sack the manager then!

He got them into the Prem two or three seasons ahead of schedule and they repay him like this? Ludicrous.

Utterly ridiculous - why don't more clubs look at Watford for inspiration?

Boothroyd is just about the longest serving manager in the Championship at 3 years - in it's self shocking. However, they had a rough time of it last year, but they're flying high again this year. Looking good for promotion, and I'm sure they'll be better prepared for the Premiership next time around.

He never seemed to get on with the board (old or new) and after his comments this weekend about how his players weren't good enough for the PL and that he hadn't seen the Chairman for three months it was inevitable. I imagine that the result at the weekend was irrelevant.

I knew he was doomed when he started talking about his ideas for the transfer window. It was like a turkey making plans for New Year's Eve.

Nah, he started to make demands to the chairman. Could have been a stunt from him so that would have been his reason to leave. They were never going to do well this season. Poor signings and haven't been able to keep a good defence.

Well yeah I think he’s a real nark, but regardless of what I think of him he doesn’t deserve the sack.

It's okay, he was just happy to be there.

Now he's just going to be happy to be somewhere else.

With the squad Derby have getting rid of their manager is the football equivalent of sacking the doctor in a hospital because there is an outbreak of the bubonic plague.

He can only work with what he has, and that Derby team are one of the worst to ever grace the Premiership.

The sad thing is if he had lost the playoff final and Derby were riding high in the Championship he'd be seen as some sort of managerial genius.

                      Who'd be a manager?

It has to be said that he bought a lot of the players and spent several million on Earnshaw so to a large degree he is the architect of his own downfall. In that situation at the very least you have to motivate the team and have them playing for you and after his attack on his own players this weekend that seemed unlikley. They had to get rid IMO although you are right it is hard to see anyone else coming in and doing substansively better than him.

He should have been kept on for the simple fact that he would have been a good bet to guide them to promotion from the Championship next season...
