What the **** is he doing??

His stock was high after leaving Wigan and saving them from the drop but lets get real here what the hell was he doing for most of the season to have them in that position??

...So he was linked with Ireland NOT a chance for me he's nowhere near what we should be looking for now after the utter hits we had to watch lead our country the past 4 years.....

.....so he joins Derby a worse team then Wigan who will have NO chance of staying up and less money, this just shows to me that he really isnt a good manager and the Championship is where he belongs if not lower then that.

You didnt see any of the middle teams going for him,why?? Cause he aint all that great of a manager

I think Jewell is a good manager but I wonder if he questions his own ability to manage a big club and feels more comfortable at a top championship side rather than a top premiership one.

From what the media says he's had offers from bigger clubs that he's turned down.

He is an odd man. He quit Wigan citing the stress caused by a relegation dogfight then six months later joins another team in the middle of another relegation dogfight. This is made even more strange considering he earlier ruled himself out of the running for other more high profile jobs which would have been relatively less stressful.

The only conclusion I can come to is that he sees this as a win win situation. No one expects Derby to stay up. If they get relegated no one will slag him off. If they stay up he will be a hero.

Still a very strange decision from a seemingly strange man.

I guess managing Derby at the bottom of the Premiership is a bigger job than being the Ireland Manager...
