    Diao in the wilderness

    I wondered where he'd gone...

    Poor Salif.

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has explained that midfielder Salif Diao did not sign a deal with the club because he worried about his fitness.

The 30-year-old Senegal international was at Stoke on a short-term contract until the end of last season.

The former Liverpool man was offered a new deal by the Potters during the summer, but never put pen to paper.

"He doesn't want to come and take money off us while he isn't ready to train," Pulis told the club's official website.

"I have spoken to Salif, and I have been to see him twice, but he is adamant he won't come until he is fully fit or nearly fit.

"He had such a great time here last season and he doesn't want to ruin that by coming here while he is unfit."

        Poor old Salif.

        He's fallen a long way since 2002.

I think this shows that the rumours of him being a money grabbing git are wide of the mark.

          That is unnecessary and unfair.

****e player, but at least he's the complete opposite personality wise to his countryman who also played for us.

Heard a few people say that he's a really nice fella. No reason to doubt it. Think it's just a polite way of saying I don't want to live in Stoke.
