Refs to blame for players' injuries

FERGIE: REFS TO BLAME FOR PLAYERS' INJURIES
    By David Mcdonnell 01/12/2007

Sir Alex Ferguson has slammed Premier League referees' standards and claimed they are responsible for players' injuries.

Manchester United boss Fergie was sent off last week during his side's 1-0 defeat to Bolton after blowing up at ref Mark Clattenburg.

And Fergie, who has been charged by the FA, claimed the country's referees need to improve and give players greater protection.

"I think standards are slipping," said Fergie. "There was a conference for managers in the summer, with a promise that tackles with a raised foot would get a red card.

"We were also told that tackles from the back would get a red card. Standards must be slipping because there have been some bad tackles recently, not just in our games.

"What happens then is if someone gets seriously injured who gets the blame? The referee gets the blame."

Fergie says he will not appeal any punishment the FA give him.

    I agree 100% with him.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

It is difficult for the refs, there are so many players diving and then the likes of Chelsea that surround the ref if he gives a free kick or card.
The refs would be more likely to give a fre kick, card etc if there wasn't so much diving by the likes of Ronaldo. You can't tell me that if you were refing a game and a player that has a rep of diving (an you have seen him do it before) went down you wouldn't have some doubts.

Anyone caught diving should be carded or suspended after the game.
