Carlo Ancelotti believes Milan should have had a penalty as their draw with Juventus sets a new club record.
“We struggled in the first half, but after the break Juve’s pressure dropped and we took control,” said the Rossoneri boss after tonight’s 0-0 at San Siro.
This result set a new club record, as Milan had never before gone nine consecutive home games without a victory.
“The statistics say we don’t score often enough at home. Today we had some good chances and have nothing to reproach ourselves for,” insisted Ancelotti.
“We could have been a little luckier and there was a penalty incident on Alberto Gilardino.”
Gila seemed to be tugged back by his shorts when stretching to get on the end of a dangerous Kaka cross, but the referee waved play on.
“Juventus are a very compact side and they kept a lot of pressure on Andrea Pirlo. Ronaldo? We have time to get him back into shape.”
Their form is causing concern ahead of the Club World Cup, which starts next week.
“We are doing better than last season before the Christmas break, even if there are some players – especially in midfield – who must play continually. I think we have time to prepare for Japan.”
Meanwhile, Juventus Coach Claudio Ranieri has his own theory on Milan’s shortcomings at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
“I can see why they are having problems here, as the pitch is like soap. For a highly technical team like Milan, it is the worst kind of environment.”
