Crocked Henry heaping pressure on Barcelona board

Crocked Henry heaping pressure on Barcelona board
    tribalfooball.com - December 05, 2007

Former Barcelona vice-president Sandro Rosell has slammed the signing of Thierry Henry.

Barca president Joan Laporta is under fire after Henry was ruled out "indefinitely" with a back problem. The former Arsenal striker, 30, also missed half of last season through injury.

Rosell rapped: "Somebody must have their ears clipped for this signing.

"We all know the fitness problems he has had. It should have been done for less than £16million."
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Big boots Henry can **** right off.

Look at Arsenal since he's left.

Everton improved when Rooney left, but I bet you'd still take him.

He's quality but whenever I've seen him on the telly he's looked like he doesn't really fit in at Barca. I know he's had some good games there but you don't see the same, dominating type of Henry when he's playing second-fiddle to Ronny, Eto'o and Messi.

Know what you mean mate. I feel the same each time I watch him.
He even chases back each time he loses the ball now - something which he hardly ever done at Arsenal. And as for his finishing of late.......

Anyone see Henry’s comments recently? I thought they were fairly remarkable.

He said something about having to adapt to a new style of football – the one touch, patient build up stuff, pass and move etc – whereas at Arsenal he was always used to a much more direct brand of football.

I always thought Barca & Arsenal shared similar styles.

                        Apparently not.

I think if anyone over here referred to Arsenal as ‘direct’ they’d be laughed out of the place – although they are more direct in the sense that they get it forward quicker, whereas Barca have a slower, more methodical build-up.

I think. That’s my take on it, anyway. How do others see the two respective teams and their styles of play?

The problem is his injuries. We would probably be able to play him five, six months every season.

I would rather take Sandro Rosell and appoint him as our new CEO.

I think it has more to do with the style of the opposition teams, rather then his own. Boucing off defenders, using his pace to pull away from the last man, forcing players to commit themselves etc - it all relies on a high pressure game and when people just stand off him, he can't use his talents in the same way.

Having said that, Carra stood off him a few times and got pasted, but hey.

I suspect the big difference is that at Arsenal they always used to get the ball to him quickly. Whereas at Barcelona he is only one option with the midfielders looking for Messi/Ronaldinho at least as often.

There is probably also something in your analysis aswell. Particularly of late Barcelona don't seem to get the ball into dangerous areas as quickly as Arsenal (or even that they did a few years ago when they were at their peak).
