        1. Pele
        2. Dalglish
        3. Barnes

Nobody else should be mentioned in the same breath (actually I can only just about say these three in the same breath - then I need air)
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

In the beginning God created football. Man so loved God's idle pastime that it was soon elevated to The Beautiful Game. God saw this and was pleased, and bestowed on Man the greatest gift - a god made in the shape of Man, the most physically perfect man ever created and, as an example, he gave him the temperament of an angel. This man played in gold and was loved, admired and emulated by all men the world over.

The Devil saw the beauty of the game and the love that the man inspired and was consumed with envy and rage. He conspired to destroy the game's beauty and replace God's hero with one of his own. He gave his creation prodigious talents and to help him beat his foe, freed him from weakness by giving him an twisted, evil mind that could cheat and lie without remorse. And where God created beauty and athleticism, the Devil created a hideous abomination whose malformed, freakish physique made it impossible for Man to compete with him. He decided against the horns at the last minute.

And The Devil's creation was celebrated by Man, who had become tired and bored of the Golden Man's perfection, and he was hailed as the Greatest Footballer and to God's anguish and dismay, became an example to all men, even children, who would headbutt their sisters and punch the ball into the net.

The Devil was so delighted and inspired by his success that he decided he would destroy the passion and glory of God's Beautiful Game once and for all. He descended to Earth and into a hate-filled purple-faced man's sleeping ear whispered "you shall become the manager of Manchester United and I will help you knock those f##ckers off their perch..."
