Turkish Lawyer To Sue Inter Milan

Fenerbahce To Ask Uefa For Three Points From Inter Match
A Turkish lawyer has filed a complaint to Uefa after Inter wore a shirt with an offensive symbol, at least to Islamic culture, in their recent match against Fenerbahce.

A Turkish lawyer who's an expert on European law, Baris Kaska, is asking Uefa to cancel the three points Inter earned in their win against Fenerbahce in the recent Champions League match.

The Nerazzurri had beaten the Turkish champions 3-0 at home to qualify for the next round of the Champions League.

The reason for the appeal is unusual: the celebratory shirt for Inter's centenary worn by the team that night, and on several other occasions this season, offended many people in Turkey.

The shirt's scheme saw a big red cross on a white background, a symbol of the city of Milan, and reminded many of an emblem of the order of the Templars, which is considered offensive in Islamic culture.

Inter consciously did not wear their 'centenary shirt' in their first match against Fenerbahce in Istanbul, but at home, they did not think it was necessary to do the same.

However, the very sensitive Turkish media reacted bitterly and that led to the official appeal filed by Kaska, who announced this decision during an interview to Barcelona daily La Vanguardia.
Well, here we are in a room with two manky hookers and a racist dwarf. I think I'm heading home.

What utter bollocks. What is happening in Turkey?
I find the fact that the mother church of christianity the Haigha Sophia was turned into a mosque then museum pretty ****ing offensive but I'm not going to sue the turkish state for it. They should sort out their own moutains of ****.

That must be an appeal on the most tenuous grounds ever. If I was in any way affiliated with the club making that appeal I'd pretty embarrassed and shame-faced about that.

Pathetic. In this instance the symbol celebrates Inter's centenary, it is not deliberately inflammatory and it was not worn with the intention to offend the Turks, so I fail to see what the problem is.

Also interesting how the Turks like to be Muslim when it suits them, when everyone knows they are the most secular of all the Muslim countries.

My thoughts exactly. A stupid and embarassing appeal.

Aye, but if they have the points removed and then fail to beat PSV tonight, and Fenerbache beat CSKA, then the Turks will win the group. Which would suit us in the draw. I say we back this.

Whatever happened to the Beatty v Gilbanks approach. If somebody says or does something you find offensive (but not illegeal) then the offended person should shut up and live with it. Voice opposite opinions if you must. But do not stop the original person saying something which is considered offensive

Does this mean we could get Fenerbahce in the last 16, instead of Inter?
