    Castillo to City

Man City setting up loan deal for Castillo
    tribalfooball.com - December 14, 2007

Manchester City are set to land Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Nery Castillo on-loan next month.

The Daily Mail says Castillo, who starred for Mexico in this year's Copa America, has failed to settle in the Ukraine and played only a handful of games for the club, starting mostly on the bench.

His agent, Jose Luis Padilla, said: "There has been an agreement with Manchester City so that Nery can be with the club for one year on loan so he can prove himself and play active football. Nery just wanted to play and that was not happening at Shakhtar.

"He is in England to iron out the final details of his contract."

Padilla said City, who are also keen on Inter Milan striker Adriano, would have an option to buy Castillo at the end of the loan period.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

This lad has talent. Whether or not he can reproduce this in the hustle & bustle of the Premier Leagues remains to be seen.

Castillo won't hack it in the Prem. He's extremely light weight.

No more light weight than Benayoun for example. It's more about attitude more than anything else. If he is prepared to work hard and get kicked at then he will make it.

He was in my Champions League Fantasy Team and picked up ****-all points by never playing.

It beggers belief why a club would smash their transfer record on a player and then not play him, pretty much at all.

I really rate the lad did well for Mexico in the summer.
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

Premier League high-fliers Manchester City FC have signed Mexico forward Nery Castillo on a year-long loan from FC Shakhtar Donetsk.

                  Failed to settle
Shakhtar had bought the 23-year-old from fellow UEFA Champions League group stage participants Olympiacos CFP in July but he failed to settle, making just eight Ukrainian league appearances without scoring. Castillo was on target 12 times in 25 games in his last season in Greece and his four goals helped Mexico reach last summer's Copa América semi-finals.

                  Desire
Castillo will be eligible to play for Manchester City, who are fourth in England, from 1 January and the club's chief executive Alistair Mackintosh said: "Nery Castillo's desire to make this deal happen has been extraordinary. He has made a significant financial contribution in order to complete this move by paying most of the loan fee himself." Shakhtar president Rinat Akhmetov said on the club's website that the Ukrainian side have negotiated a large fee as part of the loan transfer.

Heard on Legends phone in on Century FM that the lad paid most of his own fee to go on loan to city.

He does know it's Man City and not Man Utd doesn't he.

I agree he seems to be very talented but let's see how he reacts when he gets kicked all over the place and the refs don't call a foul.

Should I be ashamed to admit I am a bit jealous of Man City at the moment?

I would take any of the above players plus Richards, Johnson and Corluka.

Sven is an excellent team builder.

He knows exactly what type of players a team need, that is why City will be a top club for a long time with Shinawatra backing up Sven in the transfer market.

Would you put them in a 4-2-3-1 formation?
