Isn't a straight red a three game ban?

Ricardo Carvalho's red card for a two-footed tackle on Gabriel Agbonlahor during the enthralling 4-4 draw against Aston Villa will bring an immediate three-game ban, while Ashley Cole could miss one game for his dismissal for handball, though Chelsea are considering an appeal.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

A Straight red for dangerous or violent play is a 3 match ban

a straight red for handball or a proffesional foul or last man/goalscoring opportunity is just a 1 game ban
Lawrenson:"Well thats 3 good chances they have had in the first 3 minutes of this half"

Motson:"" Yes Mark, you could almost say that they have had 3 chances in as many minutes"

Lawrenson: Errr I thought I just did say that, John"

      How can the consider appealing?
I havn`t seen it, but if it`s a handball there is nothing to discuss.
But if they appeal he don`t miss the next game does he? So it could a tactical thing to ease the defensive crisis.

If it wasn't handball, which will be their argument, then there's plenty to discuss. It was a dubious decision, even after the replays I'm not sure whether it hit his arm after hitting his chest.

Technically, as from your upper arm down to your hand, is considered handball.

Must have changed it this season then.

As I said I havn`t seen it, but from what i`ve ready in the papers today there might be room for discussions. Isn`t it all down to the ref? If he says it`s a handball after the review then it stands, if he changes his mind the card is taken back?

I thought that you got to take it to the monthly discipline committee who listen to both sides of the story before siding with the ref. I would imagine the appeal will 50% be intended to make sure any ban happens when they are playing Derby or the like.

Good point. That's the kind of rigorous logic that demands modship.
                    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

i thought it was a automatic 1 game suspension then a board would review it and decide if it would be one or 3 match ban. don't have a clue...

didin's the neville sister get a 3 match ban for that handball against us?
