Spurs are very lucky. Villa should be 3 up by now.

He'd be a good signing for us. He'd walk into our first 11.

Agreed. And he's letting his contract wind down too.

He's a good instinctive finisher, quick, threatening and a goalscorer.

              Everthing poor old Dirk isnt.

You think? under Rafa with his emphasis on pressuring defenders?. If we were to replace Dirk, surely Raa would want someone who does a similar job, but has a bit more of an instict around goal, while Defoe has the latter, he does not pressure aswell as Dirk or have his physical presence.

Peonally, I would have signed Defoe long ago if I was the manager.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

That might be why rafa never wins the league mate. Hard work is great, but goals win you games.

Well I'd hope that Rafa would value 2 goalscoring forwards more than one goalscoring forward and one defensive forward who is good at harrying defenders.

                      He does.
Thing is though, he wants one to be able to score aswell, Dirk came here with that reputation, but it hasn't really worked out as we hoped.
Ideally, Rafa will want someone who can come in, do the job that Dirk is doing, but with a better eye for goal.

I've always rated Defoe. He does seem to have a bit of a suspect temperment though

I tell you what mate, because of my over excesses in the days leading up to last night I crawled into 2008 suffering from a bout of man flu. I'm off the drink until tomorrow night.
