Defoe would be a useful squad option but IMO will never be a regular starter for a big team. He is an excellent finisher with good pace but his positioning is poor which in large part explains his only average goal return and most of the time he does little for the rest of the team. Despite this he could be a good signing as a player capable of knicking a goal in a tight match - can't see him wanting to swap the Tottenham bench for our bench particularly though.
