    City looking to loan Podolski

Sven Goran Eriksson's reputation as a manager has grown since he took over at Manchester City, and he looks set to enhance it further by pulling off the biggest coup of the January transfer window in signing Bayern Munich striker Lukas Podolski on loan until the end of the season.

Podolski, who would fetch at least £15million on the open market, is regarded as potentially his country's best forward since Gerd Muller.

He was one of the brightest stars at the last World Cup but has struggled to win his place back in the Bayern side this season after injury.

    Surely not.
If they can get him on loan then surely we should be in the bidding too. He would be a good partner for Torres

    He's been dreadful at Bayern.

He looked good at Cologne and alright in the World Cup but the last thing we need is a low on confidence non goal scoring striker.

I rate him as well, albeit mostly based on the world cup and early appearances. I like Klose as well.

I'd snap their hand off for a loan deal.

Mind you, weren't there rumours that we were in for him a couple of years ago and he ****ed us off?

Yeah, I remember there were strong rumours linking us with him before he joined Bayern.

He was always going to move to Bayern though.

Not sure if I'd be too interested in him at this stage. He had a good world cup but has done next to nothing in an average German league since then. If he can't succeed in Germany I don't see how he can succeed in the Premiership.

He was out injured at the start of the season and then played a few games for Bayerns second team, he is now back scoring again for their first team.

It's tough to compete with Klose and Toni.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Agree with you. I honestly would love to see him up front with Torres. I also like the idea of a loan deal, something we dont do enough of IMO. I think it is better because you can see how he copes in the english league, then decide whether to spend on him.

he's been linked again to city today. we would rue a missed opportunity if he went there and banged in a few goals. he's better than kuyt or voronin in terms of pace and skill and has a great left foot and is good in the air also. and still only 22, i think we should make a move for him. unlikely it will happen though. he's just a player who i think will make our team better and another potential world class striker in the making and for 12 mil after the initial loan deal would be great.
