Afonso Alves is hoping he can soon finalise his move away from Heerenveen.
The 26-year-old is set to leave the Abe Lenstra for 20million euros (£14.8million) with Manchester City, Middlesbrough, Fenerbahce and AZ Alkmaar competing for his signature.
The Brazilian international has returned from a holiday in his homeland and wants his future resolving.
"The last few days I have spent with my family and friends in Belo Horizonte," he told his own website.
"When I return to the Netherlands I hope to complete my transfer to one of the interested clubs."
Ambition
Alves wants to leave Heerenveen in order to maintain his push for an international place - he currently has eight caps to his name.
"I want to continue my work and stay in the picture with national coach Dunga," he continued.
"I want to work myself into being a first-team regular with the Brazil national side."
A move to England now looks a real possibility with Boro rekindling their interest in the striker and joining City in the chase.
AZ kicked off the chase some weeks ago as they looked to snatch him and they remain confident they can pull of the capture - even if reports in Holland suggest they have now lost out.
"I think he will come," said AZ boss Louis van Gaal - ignoring speculation about the rival interest.
"AZ are complete with Heerenveen and Alves has chosen us. AZ has done everything that it could do."
AZ's technical director Marcel Brands insists the club have no alternatives to Alves lined up.
"Plan B doesn't exist anymore," he said.
"We want Alves because he would make us better with immediate affect. There are no comparable players, or at least not one that is realisable for us and wants to play for us."
Alves' goalscoring record in Europe:
2002-2003 Orgryte 39 apps 23 goals
2004-2006 Malmo 48 apps 26 goals
2006-Present Heerenveen 49 apps 49 goals
