I reckon Hughes would be the ideal choice.

Right age, has recent European experience (all be it mixed), has proven he can sign quality players without needing bucketloads of money, has "big club" experience in shedloads from being a player from all around the country and abroad.

He also plays quite an expansive game at times with two wingers.

why would harry leave the pompy side he has built up, to manage turds like newcastle, hasn't he got more money and more potential at pompy than at newcastle

Apparently Harry didn't take the press conference today...things might be afoot!

"Redknapp left the Pompey training ground and drove off in his car much before the scheduled end. The same also resulted in his scheduled press conference also being cancelled.

It is unclear what the exact status of the situation is, but it is believed that the veteran coach will thrash out an exit from his current contract before taking charge of Newcastle shortly."

Compensation package is being discussed between Pompey and Newcastle.

I am of the opinion that this is a good opportunity for Harry. He will get money from Mike Ashley and I can see him doing a lot of business in this transfer window.

Just reading Harry's interview on SSN. He hasn't ruled it out at all - saying the usual 'No contact, they'd have to speak to my agent etc etc etc'

That to me says he's interested in it and would take the job if offered

I'd like to see how he copes at a big club and the kind of players he signs when he doesn't have to search the bargain bins.

Will he still buy the obscure African and East European player?
                      We come not to play.

Any Pompey players that you'd go for then?

Pompey players- I think Muntari if we don't get Mascherano.

I reckon Crouch to Newcastle could now be on the cards.

Harry rates Crouchie very highly and has reportedly been trying to take him to Pompey, but a lack of funds means he’s taking Korean strikers and other unlikely sorts on trial. Crouch loved working under Redknapp so I think this one could happen.
