    Spurs bid £8m for Downing

Middlesbrough's Stewart Downing has told Sky Sports that he wants his future resolving after Tottenham firmed up their interest in him.

Skysports.com revealed earlier this week that Spurs had made a new move, and now they are believed to have lodged an offer worth £8million.

Sky Sports News has had it confirmed that Spurs have made a bid and Downing wants the situation resolving.

"I am aware and flattered by the interest from Tottenham," Downing told Sky Sports.

"But until Middlesbrough and Tottenham agree terms I remain a Middlesbrtough player and am fully committed to helping Gareth Southgate and the team anyway I can.

    Resolution

"I hope this situation is resolved sooner rather than later as all the speculation is affecting me and I would like to drawn a line under the situation and focus fully on my football career."

It is believed Boro are keen on player-exchanges, but it now appears Spurs have made a straight cash bid.

Boro are now considering their options, but it seems Downing could be set to leave his hometown club.

The likes of Everton and Portsmouth could yet make moves for Downing, but Spurs are very much favourites to land the England man - who could very well have played his last match for Boro in their 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Saturday.

Boro, who themselves are determined to bolster their squad and have launched bids for Afonso Alves and Fred, are likely to decide whether to accept Spurs' bid in the next few days although talks have been ongoing over the past week.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I'm not so sure for me given a fully fit squad the two positions Spurs need to fill are left wing and a defensive minded midfielder. Downing is not a great player but he is a useful role player to offer genuine width and decent crossing. The value for him is high but for a PL adapted player in a position which seems to have a national shortage I think it might work out well for them despite Downings many limitations as a player.

Great news. My mate's a Boro fan and text me "Rafa's going on the dole" after Boateng bundled in the ball from 2 yards out on the weekend. He hates Spurs for some reason. Excellent ammo!

                Surely not a Ramos signing.

We they have had a director of football (Comolli) system since at least Jacques Santini was in charge with him largely in charge of identifying potential transfer targets. I very much doubt they will have changed a system designed specifically to give continuity when changing managers because they changed manager.

If Ramos could sign a left sided midfielder then he would probably sign Capel for £8m instead of Downing.

Not a chance that Ramos is the one who want Downing.
