    G14 to disband after compromise

    G14 to disband after compromise

The G14 group of Europe's most powerful clubs has disbanded after Fifa and Uefa agreed to listen to them on key issues.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Rangers were among the 18 clubs at odds with the bodies over compensation for players injured on national duty.

Some clubs had taken legal action but that will be dropped after the parties agreed to work more closely together.

Uefa and Fifa say they will compensate clubs for players taking part in European Championships and World Cups.

Fifa president Sepp Blatter said: "The clubs, which are the basic cells of our game and fundamental to its thriving, are at last to become a part of the pyramidal football organisation."

Uefa president Michel Platini added: "The demands of the clubs to be heard and to be associated, also financially, are well-founded. The letter of intent is not a political step, but a logical one."

G14 will be replaced by the European Club Association, which will have more than 100 members, including one from each of Europe's 53 national associations.

So what does that mean, we get money everytime one of ours plays for his country? Or only if they get injured? Will it be a significant sum? Will this give Platini more power?

Part of me hopes they are disbanding so that Chelsea can never get accepted into their power group

Chelsea would never join anyway. Any member can veto new entries. Also remeber that LFC are one the most powerfull clubs there as each EC/CL win gives you a extra vote.

What does that mean? One club from each national association or what?
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Probably one from the FA, one from the SFA, one from the norwegian FA etc.
The G14 clubs will probably have a memeber each. The rest will be whoever suchs up to Platini

No, the European Club Association will include all the G14 clubs. The big teams will be in e.g Top 4 from England, Top 2 from Scotland, top 4 from Italy, top 4 from Spain etc. All the smaller nations will have atleast 1 each

It's a victory for Platini IMO. He co-opts the clubs into the official UEFA structure and makes a breakaway far less likely.

If memory serves, Chelsea were involved in negotiating the deal so if anything it's a victory for them too.
                .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

It is a victory for Platini, but also for football in general IMO. The G-14 were great for the clubs involved, but for smaller clubs and countries it wasn`t good at all.
