        His record stands at being very successful with France, Liverpool and Lyon and winning multiple cups with each.

        Who exactly has anywhere near the same CV, and was realistic?

          He was technical director of France during good times, not manager and he was a disaster for LFC IMO, hence his sacking. We never even got close to the league and played terrible dour football doing (or not doing) it

          We need someone with an attacking philosophy IMO. Dalglish was the man.

              Hoddle was way down the line in the commitees recommendations. The only thing holding this up is the compo for the FFA. Don Givens looks likely to be given the reigns for the Brazil friendly due to GH business deals already being in place for the next 10 days.

                  Granted we didn't win the league, although I think he got us two 2nds. Plenty of cups. That was a disaster? His last 2/3 years were poor, but don't let that mask the good times we had.

                    Agreed - it wasn't pretty but he did win some trophies compared to his predecessors

                      2nd is nowhere if we didn't even realistically challenge the winners. and don't let the "we won 5 cups in 1 season" fool you! The supercup and charity shield don't count!

                      He is essentially that type of manager - a cup one, so he might win us the WC if he actually manages to get us there!

                      Good for helping teams avoid relegation too but going by his LFC days, not a good appointment for us IMO.

                      Again, he WAS more attacking at lyon so....
