Walcott may be available on loan

Would he be a useful short term option ?

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly considering loaning out Theo Walcott in order to give him greater first-team opportunities.

Walcott, 18, has struggled to break into Wenger's starting XI, and is currently fourth choice behind the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Eduardo and Nicklas Bendtner.

Development: Theo Walcott may be loaned out

Wenger recognised Walcott's potential when he signed him for £13 million as a 16-year-old from Southampton, but the England international has yet to establish himself as top-class Premier League striker, occasionally appearing out of his depth.

Now, it seems, Wenger has conceded that if Walcott's development is to progress at a faster pace, then a temporary move elsewhere will reap benefits.

According to the Mail, a number of Premier League clubs were contacted yesterday about taking the 18-year-old forward until the end of the season.

Walcott's confidence may have been dented in recent weeks, especially after Tuesday night's 5-1 thrashing at the hands of North London rivals Tottenham, but he has shown glimpses of immense promise.

He scored twice against Sparta Prague in the Champions League, earning rave reviews from the media.

However, Wenger has yet to be convinced, even claiming last week that "he is not where I would like him to be".

They'd never loan him to us even if we wanted to. Which we don't.

He could do a job on the wings, or even as a foil for Torres.

Well….both ….but I meant no way should we be interested. As the article says, he appears out of his depth at the top level (at this stage of his career anyway) and I wouldn’t want him.

Why would we when we have so many promising youngsters of his age. Babel is one, Nemeth is another...

And people compared him to Owen and Fowler at the same age They have one thing that Walcott don't. Excellent vision and game intelligence.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Would obviously improve the offensive game at Team Liverpool, however what kind of message would this send out? Effectively we're admitting then we're part of the second tier of the Premiership...

Not sure he would be an improvement right now. He would be another Babel figure where we are working on getting him to play our system and make the most of his talents - except with Babel we will get the long term benefits and with Walcott Arsenal would. It would be madness.

Why would he get more playing time here than at Arsenal?

If Wenger wants to get rid of him, it means he's not good enough. Do we really want Arsenal's rejects. How many players that have left Arsenal have improved ?
