    Baros signs for Pompey

An interesting signing and I for one am pleased to see him back in the Prem. I was never a massive fan and he has his limitations, but I reckon he could do well for Pompey. I'll be keen so see if he suits their style of play and I wish him well.

Portsmouth have completed the loan signing of Czech Republic striker Milan Baros from French champions Lyon for the remainder of the season.

Baros, 26, joined Lyon from Aston Villa 12 months ago, after two years at the club following a move from Liverpool.

"It's a terrific opportunity to have a look at him," said Portmouth manager Harry Redknapp.

"He's a good player. He was the Golden Boot winner at a European Championship. He's got pace and makes good runs."

Baros scored 19 goals in 68 league appearances for Liverpool and managed nine goals in 34 starts after moving to Villa in 2005.

I always had a soft spot for Milan.

On his day he's quite an effective striker, better than Voronin, Crouch and Kuyt anyway.

I liked him too, his strong hustle & bustle style was always a threat.

Hmmmm strange. About an hour ago, For some reason Baros came into my head and I was thinking where the **** is he at as I don't recall seeing him for Lyon recently.

Good signing for them. Oh how I wish we still had Baros over Kuyt or Voronin.

Anyone know what's gone wrong for him in France? That is one **** league and if he can't score goals over there then he's in trouble.

I see why Syd and Jamo liked his hustle and bustle approach - I did, too - but he frustrated in equal measure with his often fruitless pursuits down blind alleys and dead ends.

His biggest problem is, however, that he doesn't score anywhere near enough goals. He's certainly not better than Crouch and their comparative goal records would, I'm sure, bear testament to that.

He is, however, a greater threat than either of 'the other two'.

Not sure he'll thrive in Pompey's one-up-top style, though. He's a hopeless lone frontman and needs a partner.

I think he might be okay the way Pompey sometimes play with fast midfielders breaking from deep and fairly often being ahead of the striker.

I'm not a big fan but in the right team he can do a decent job.

Mixed views on Meeelaannnnnn tbh, fast, direct and skillful on his day but he put the head down to much during matches(literally) and missed a ****load of chances in the process.
Still better than Kuyt and Voronin without a doubt.
Good luck to him at Pompey.

He'll be partnering Benjani and their counter style should suit him down to the ground with Utaka breaking too and Kranjcar and Muntari supplying the ammo. They have a decent set up there. £20 notes says we get drawn down there in the cup.

His style had it's pros and cons. A lot of the time, he himself didnt even know what he was going to do or where he was going to go. Very unpredictable. Which was good in the sense that opposition defenders never knew what he was gonna do next.

Unfortunately though, his team mates often didnt have the foggiest either.

personally i'd rather Milan was still at LFC instead of Voronin - still love him cos he played in Istanbul

I'm not a big fan of Baros either. He only ever looked like a prolific scorer and real goal threat in the season where he broke onto the scene, kept scoring and Houllier kept dropping him.

Acted like a bit of a knob at the Cyprus - Czech game a couple of months ago as well.

Jesus, good luck to all the Pompey fans, hours of frustration at him running head down into blind alleys

Will be good to see him tho always quite liked the lad

                            Ahh Baros.

Great at football, but a poor footballer.

Does that make sense to anyone, or is it just me?!

Baros is a player we actually sold at a profit. Can't say that about too many of our ex-players!

I quite liked Milan though although I don't really know why. He was completly frustrating at times and probably not good enough over the long term but he scored some good goals for us.

Good luck to him at Pompey. I think he will do alright with Harry Redknapp.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!
