i'm sorry the be the party pooper but that free kick c. ronaldo just scored is one of the best free kicks in the history of free kicks, only a handful of free kicks might be better, like r. carlos' crazy bender against france...

the shot technique was unbelievable, it was out of this world. to be able to hit the ball over the wall and under the bar at that speed and with out the ball even spinning or curling is unreal. and how the ball just dropped i will never understand. he is able to kick the ball in away that no one else is, ok granted most of the times it ends up in the stands but that is clearly the goal of the season so far, and imo one of the best goals i have seen in a long time...

Choose the sword, and you will join me. Choose the ball and you join your mother, in death. You don’t understand my words, but you must choose. So… come boy, choose life or death."

      Elano's against Newcastle

It's not good because it's rude. It's good because it looks like it's good because it's rude.

Gerrard versus Villa? You sick ****s. That wouldn't be in the top 20. The keeper palmed it into the top corner. As priceless and required as it was, best in 15 years of the prem? **** off.

if gerrard would have scored that free kick, every single person on this site would have talked about it as the best free kick ever...

ronaldo's was a hit and hope with his unique technique for hitting the ball. nine times out of ten when he hits those they fly into the stands. that one just happened to fly into the top corner. best ever fk, **** off

edit: that is directed at fergie not you diego

Yes great free kick, bravo, well done etc etc

They're all just free kicks though. The only thing that makes any of them truly remarkable is if they mean a lot. Aside from the emotions they evoke because of their context, set-pieces don't really feature all that highly in my list of breathtakingly brilliant moments in football. There might be the odd exception but hitting the ball hard with dip isn't quite it, sorry.

                      Couldn't agree more.

Give me a ten-man move ending in a tap-in every time.
                      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Yep. I don't even really rate the 30 yarders, (unless it's some unusual volley or something else in the lead up). Much prefer a great team goal.

                            Without a doubt.

Screamers look great but there’s a huge element of luck involved. Look at Riise’s shooting. When they go in – one in every hundred – they look great but basically he’s just hammering it as hard as he possibly can with no thought about precision.

Factor in the new, modern footballs then they’re even less impressive.

Crouch’s goal at West Ham last season was my favourite as it was a flowing move (MILES better than Agger’s, which takes all the plaudits ), and one of my favourites this season was Babel’s at Newcastle. What a goal that was.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I know what you mean but there is something special about those 30 yard strikes. As soon as its struck you know its going in. I just love those goals.

Gerrards against West Ham in the cup final, Fowlers against Villa, Garcias against Juventus and Gerrards against United at home are all great goals and those are the ones you remember even though perhaps a team goal is more satisfying.
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

Lucas goal against Havant the other night, that was a beauty.
