    Defoe to Pompey

Pompey and Spurs agree Defoe fee

Defoe has failed to hold down a regular first team place at Spurs
Portsmouth have agreed a fee for Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe, according to the Press Association.
Defoe, 25, has failed to hold down a regular first-team place at White Hart Lane and has been told he is free to leave the club by manager Juande Ramos.

Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov are often preferred in attack, with Defoe limited to appearances from the bench.

His contract expires at the end of next season and Spurs are keen to avoid losing him on a free transfer.

Defoe has also been left out of Fabio Capello's first England squad for the match against Switzerland on 5 February.

IMO this would not have been a bad signing for us!!!!!!!!!

I think he's an alright player. If it were 6m we could do an awful lot worse............ actually we are doing an awful lot worse

He might be ****e but he's better ****e than 50% of our current strike force.

I'd rather not go for Defoe. He would only leave us with the problem we have now being that we have a striker that really isn't good enough.

He will probably do well for Pompey though.
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

Well he is but I'm delighted we're not in for him. I want to replace our ****e with quality - not "****e but not as ****e".
