    ROI v Brazil

Diego looks like a good footballer, great touch and can see a good pass, how much would he cost?

Luca Leiva came on for the last 5 mins of this game.

I was on the terrace in '87 when we beat Brazil 1-0. Liam Brady with the winner that night.

McGeady looked as good as anything they had last night(Robinho excepted). We weren't that far off them, although it wasn't really a great match.

I did like the way we tried to play football for most of the match, Given hardly booted it long at all, played it out to the fullbacks more often than not.

Although it was a meaningless match, with no reason to play it other than both Associations making a bit of money.

Yeah, it could have swung either way. First goal was always gonna win it. Brazil are only a shadow of what they once were.

In fairness they were missing a lot of players. Never really thought we'd win after we let one in though.

They were pretty quiet for most of it, but when they wanted they could turn it on.
Twas a poor enough game in general, but that's almost expected from a friendly.

I liked that he brought on Hunt for Doyle, sticking Duff up front. It meant we could attack from all angles with players who can beat their opponents (Duff, Hunt and McGeady). It's something we should do all the time.

Very disappointed that there were no Brazilian hotties sitting beside us
Well, here we are in a room with two manky hookers and a racist dwarf. I think I'm heading home.

No way, but if we scored first, I'd say we'd have held on. Kaka and Ronaldinho were the only massively influential players missing though. They are seriously lacking the cutting edge they used to have though. He won't play Adriano and Big Ron but even in the state they're both in now, they're better than anythin else they have up there. If they're not careful their squad strikeforce could consist of Jo, Vagner Love, Fabiano, and Sobis!

i don't really know their whole squad, but Kaka, Ronaldinho, Pato were missing, plus their full backs were two playing in Brazil, so presumably they have better? Alves and Cincinho, I think?

They were missing a good few players, and they were only over to make a bit of money. I wouldn't read much into last night.

They love Robinho though, I was over there last summer and he was all they talked about,, every jersey had his name, and they sang his name all last night.

Maicon and Gilberto are their first choice full backs but they're not a whole load better than the 2 that played last night. Alves can't get in ahead of Maicon. I forgot about Pato but i think he's one for the future rather than one who gets his game now. Juninho Perembuchano was missing but again he's really a set piece specialist more than a superstar so really only Kaka and Ronny that were BIG absentees.

I remember 1998 when they were amazing to watch:

                      ------------Taffarel------------

                      Cafu--aldair-Cesar Sampaoi- Carlos

                      -------------Dunga?-------------

                      Leonardo---------------Rivaldo

                      --------------Bebeto

                      ------Ronaldo-------? Romario?

Maybe Dunga was retired as Junior Bajaino rings a bell and not sure if it was Romario up top with Big Ron but they were a joy to watch

                        Hows Mcgeady going these days?

Is he ready for the step up into the EPL, would he be a decent option for one of our wings?

He certainly looked good enough last night. Beating players with ease, went quite at the beginning of the second half, but came back into it at the end. He's had some good performances and some where he goes missing. Like most wingers I suppose. Haven't watched him for Celtic though.

McGeady is potentially great. His final ball is pure ****e though and he doesn't have his head up enough while running with he ball. But as I say they are things that can be worked on and from what I hear, Strachan is doing exactly this with him at Celtic.

In fairness he has improved a lot over the past year or so, even Dunphy who doesn't have any time for him acknowledged this last night.

If he keeps up this rate of progress he could become an important player for us.
