The big thing is obviously the money that has come into the game but one thing that I think that has dramatically changed is the role of chairmen and agents.

At one time, I think that you would only know the name of your clubs chairman and wouldn't know any agents whatsoever. No every chairman looks to make a name for themselves and agents share the headlines with the player.
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

      Aye

Was going to say money and Bosman. Players have all the power these days and command crazy wages. They don't give two ****s whether they get their win bonus or their gols bonus these days. No win, no new ivory backscratcher. Big deal.

I think the fact that fans have to shell out so much cash these days makes them demand success. Money is the root of all evil

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I am in agreement here, but subconsciously it has to make a difference. If you have forgone something in favour of the match (often something essential!) then you must be mighty peeved off on a secondary level if what you see is a pile of dog****.

20 years ago you could tell a players position by the number of the jersey he was handed.

short and sweet and to the point. The money has taken over and created such a disparity between, not only the big and little teams, but also amongst the big teams and the biggest teams. Look at us, doing very well, top 10 richest club on the planet but miles and miles behind the top 5/6.
