He had his standard Liverpool rant done within 2 minutes - 2 man team (Torres & Gerrard) Mash is waste of space, Hyypia is too old. I was surpirsed he didn't have a go at Harry Kewell.

Of course then he wrote off Italian football as being rubbish, the premier league and la liga were the only 2 leagues....all the time during the score Roma 2 - Madrid 1 was rolling at the bottom of the screen!!!

It's a bit weird, all this. He spouts mind-boggling amounts of utter, utter, utter ****. People are bound to talk about him.

It's like Newsnight having Jade Goody as its anchor. People would talk about it. Doesn't make it good or any better than its rival shows.

Dunphy comes out with stuff that a five year old with chronic learning disabilities would be ashamed to come out with. I think it's sad and pathetic that RTE continue to use this imbecile.

Provides a humourous foil to Johnny Giles (the very best analyst of the game on TV, bar none) and Brady..
I dont like the anti-Liverpool vibe that comes from RTE (though I find it hard to disagree with Giles' interpretations when we lose) , but it always preferable to the manufactured, sterile, media-driven view that you get from Sky and BBC..
Dunphy, when he's having a go, can be funny as long as you don't take what he says for gospel (if you did, you'd find that the only decent player in the modern game is Rooney............everyone else is rubbish !)
Probably too much to say I miss him when he's not on the programme, but the team of Bill (who loves poking at Dunphy to get a response), Giles, Dunphy, Brady and then the non-Sky Sports Souness does usually make for compulsive viewing..

absolutely. i'd prefer to watch dunphy call every one of our players a hopeless overrated/over the hill cunt rather than listen to hansen calling every half-arsed effort "magnificent", lawro talking abolutely mind-numbing nothingness, andy townsend pretending to have an IQ over 60 or any of the sky media bitches.

i like shearer becuse he seems to call things fairly straight.

gilesy is the best post-match analysist around. he proves stuff about positioning and movement on and off the ball with such ease that you really feel like you're learning something about football. and the fact that he never really makes predictions tends to be proven right all the time, if you know what i mean. he doesn't like boring falir-free football but in fairness if your job was to watch footie, i'm sure being complimentary about attacking teams and irritated with defensive ones woud be the general outlook you'd have.
