    Correct

I only seen Platt in his Arsenal days. Thought he was a dick

To be honest I think people underrate efficiency in players. Both Platt and Lampard have very good movement and exception efficiency in terms of shooting but also moving the ball from defense into attack. Not particularly classy players but genuinely brilliant at a specific aspects of the game that while not making them great players does make them a hugely useful asset to any team of almost any quality.

He was never ever ever ever anywhere near brilliant. He wasn't even in the neighbouring postal district to brilliant. He could hold it up reasonably well, and came up with the odd eye-catching goal. Other than that he was nothing but a dirty clogging clueless ****house yard-dog.

        A detestable twazzer.

Oh of course - given that the goals are the sport's most valuable currency (one could argue the only currency) then of course they were/are valuable players. Just wildly overrated and held in much higher esteem than they deserve to be, due to the number of goals they scored.

Was very young at the time but I remember him being very good but like you say, a **** altogether. He ruined his career.

Dalian Atkinson (right thread this time)
                  Anyone rate Tony Daley?

I'm not sure I think there is a big divide on both and that on balance a lot of people under rate them in a sort of reactionary way.

In many ways I think that right now our team needs someone like that who takes the percentages, which always gives your team a chance in attack.

I quite liked his energetic and petulant style of play...

Didnt one of the Laudrups play over here at one point?

I don't think we can afford to carry a player like that - one who contributes very little most of the time other than goalscoring. Not in midfield anyway.

                          Tony Daley LMAO

David White - ace for City but had a disastrous England debut in Spain and never seemed to recover.

David Hirst - ****ing awesome, awesome striker. Better than Shearer but ruined by injuries.

No way- Shearer was AWESOME, could score all types of goals - sheer brilliant. I wish we'd signed him.
                              We come not to play.

They would have to do what Lampard does in terms of bringing th eball forward or play behind Torres. I think it is a gross simplification to say that Lampard only contributes goals. One of our main problems is that we fail to get the ball from our defensive third to attacking third quickly enough. Lampard is brilliant at instigating this. With Mashcer and Gerrard on it we are a very low percentage team from deep - either to conservative allowing the opposition to get back or trying long Hollywood balls.

The area of getting the ball out from defense quickly was exactly what Arsenal struggled with last season and have fixed with the improvement in Flamini IMO. There are more than one way to solve the problem as that shows but it is a problem and needs solving.

And back the main topic it is easy to forget how good Dwight Yorke was.
