I have to say that was my biggest surprise in anyones team. That along with a back three I didn't see coming from anyone. It's interesting to see that people have a spread of opinion though.

Just thought id be different. Since everyone else has gone with the usual 442

**** it, with those 3 at the back and the Monster protecting them im happy with that. I feel Babel has come on a lot this month and i think we'll see the best of him between now and end of the season

You might have a mutiny on your hands playing Gerrard at RB!!

I've chose a 4-3-3 formation, but one in the Rafa mould where it can become 3 at the back releasing Evra in to the midfield thus becoming a 3-4-3, or when defending pushing Rooney in to the left midfield spot for a 4-4-2.
                We come not to play.

So anyway back to one of my original points, could a mini tournament between a top four select team from say 8 Euro Nations get off the ground in between World Cup and Euro Championships?

Would it generate enough interest and monetary incentive to the clubs, leagues and of course TV stations?

I reckon it could and would also be a good way to showcase the sport by televising it globally.

Through me the way to the eternal pain,
Through me the way that runs among the lost.
                    Justice urged on my high artificer;
                    My maker was divine authority,
The highest wisdom, and the primal love.
Before me nothing but eternal things were made,
                    And I endure eternally.

i dont think it would get off the ground to be honest, which teams would people support? where would games be played? if it was a european thing i would find it hard for, say, torres, to play for an "english" dream team against a "spanish" dream team.
Also how would the team be selected? Opta Index stats or fans votes?

its a good idea but i just think theres so many different points that could prove stumbling blocks that it could never realistically happen

Its not a national dream team, tho is it, thats the point the national tournaments are in between.

We have often had a world 11 vs a a [insert player name here] 11 for charity

To be honest I think that it would be a great call if Gerrard was willing but having seen his attitude at RM even I think it is a non starter. So given your hard core attitude who would you replace him with when he stropped off?

If Stevie had a tizzy over it I'd chuck Gallas in there and have Toure on the bench in his place. Don't think that would be as inevitable as suggested in this scenario though - being played out of position for your club week in week out isn't the same as for a tournament held every 4 years, especially when you might otherwise just be watching from the bench.
