Purple nose to retire in 3 years time

Sir Alex Ferguson has indicated he will spend three more years as Manchester United's manager before stepping down. The Scot, who has previously gone back on plans to retire, would then have been in charge at Old Trafford for 25 years.
"I still have a lot of passion," Ferguson was quoted in the Daily Mirror. "I'm still happy. But I'm 66 now - maybe three years more, then I'll finish."

Addressing the issue of his successor, he said: "I have a great assistant in Carlos Queiroz. He will come into the reckoning. But we have owners and a chief executive who will choose the new man in three years' time. The thing about football is we have some potential young manager but because of the dangers, the hazards of management, they may not be there in three years' time."

    Heard that before!

Just in time for Maureen (who will have completed his Italian/Spanish adventure) to takeover.

Anyway i'm surprised he has 'set a date' last time he did that, the Mancs went tits up.
    We come not to play.

Precisely, I just hope to God he doesn't retire before we win number 19.

Gives him enough time to win three more titles to take them to 19...

They're good managers but by no means GREAT. They're nowhere near the calibre required to take over from one of the most successful managers of all time at arguably the biggest club in the world. They've won **** all between them as well. They would be a disaster for United hence why I hope it happens....but of course it won't.

It's arguable mate because they're both young and will improve. Ferguson didn't become a great manager overnight.

Mate, he was VERY successful before taking the United job. With Aberdeen he won 3 league titles, 4 scottish cups, 1 league cup, 1 european cup winners cup and 1 european super cup. He was then given the chance to ressurect a pretty much down and out Scum side.

In contrast, Moyes and Hughes have won **** all, their teams play rubbish football and have very little European footballing experience. Also rather than taking over an ailing side they would be taking over a side of superstars who are already arguably the best side in Britain.

Ask yourself this question, would you be happy with Gollum or Sparky being the next LFC manager? I'd be suicidal.

That would never happen. We hate them enough as it is.

I suspect he will go if he betters our league winning record or gets another CL. Other than that I suspect he will continue until he drops or is pushed out.
