I agree with the view where he comes across as uninspiring - the quote above and an interview he gave this week saying how the team had 'nothing to play for' and that he 'wished the season was over'.

His signings are questionable too - look at Jan 07 where he spent £££'s in the transfer window on Neill, Upson, Davenport, Spector, Quashie, Boa Morte - and only two of them are regulars. Kapo came in on loan and didn't play. This season Solano hasn't played regulary either who he signed in the summer.

Yup, I also think he'll be gone at somepoint soon.
Curbs brought in players who were used to scrapping it out to save them from relegation - and it worked. The problem at the time was that you can hardly sign quality when theres a chance you may go down. Only cash greedy players (Neill) will go there on massive wages.

This season he has been very unlucky with injuries nad has done well to keep them mid table with no relegation worries. A fitter squad and they'd have been bobbing about with Blackburn and the likes.

A bit of a collapse in the last three games, but they happened to run into teams who were hitting a bit of form. Going down to ten men today didn't help either.

In my opinion a club the size of West Ham would struggle to find a better manager than Curbishley.

He's not been "unlucky" with injuries because he knowingly signed several of the most injury prone players in the Prem. Bellamy, Dyer, Upson... all for big big money. They've been getting consistently injured for years now, so is it any great surprise that they've been injured again this season?

They've invested their money very very poorly.

Sure, he took a gamble and it hasn't worked. But it's all about options. Do you sign mediocre players or do you sign the others and gamble on them getting you a higher placed finish?

Of course, as a manger you live and die by the gambles you make, but finishing mid table is not a reason to sack the manager when you are a club such as West Ham. Look at how much Fulham have spent and they are second bottom by some distance. Money is no guarantee.
