    HAHA David Pleat

"...in front of 70,000 Mancunians. Well, some of them are."
David Pleat, Man Utd v Lyon, confirming what we all already knew.

Usually i find him hard to listen to but that's a great quote there
"Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. Im not the thief who grabs your purse. Im not the guy who jacks your car. Im not down with the people who steal and hurt others. Im just a brother who fight back."

Pleat is just about the only pundit/commentator who actually gives any insight into the game. He talks about the nuances of the game and how it is actually unfolding - rather than Brooking style descriptions of what just happened - "He's crossed it in, the keeper's flapped and it and he's headed it home".

He may irritate with his outrageously ignorant mispronunciations, but he's just about the best there is.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Aye he's not the worst in that respect but his voice is a bit dour and
he can never get a players name right. Deffo not as bad as Brooking though.

Well Brooking hasn't done it for about 10 years.

Nah mate he packed in a long time ago. I think he had to pack it in when he took that role at the FA. Lawrenson, in the main, has replaced him.

Jimmy Armfield is the best co-commentator. He knows about the technical part of the game and explains quite a bit about positioning of the body and foot when doing his stuff on the radio. Saying that, Pleat is one of the best on tv and radio, but not the best. Quite bias when commentating on Spurs games.

                    Who?

Anyway, Pleat is good for a laugh with his "Ben-ya-noon" (Benayoun)

I agree Shags. Pleat may mispronounce players' names now and again but he does give good insight into the games.
