i think he is the best english right winger, who's better? lennon possibly but we havent seen enough of him.
I've seen enough of Lennon to say that he's better. I'd also prefer SWP.
But in any case the category "Best English Right Winger" is as thin as "Funniest Female Comedian", and about as relevant.

I think credible cases can be made for Beckham, Lennon and Gerrard all being better then Pennant at right midfield. However the only two who are comparable types of players are Lennon and Pennant - both of which are true wingers.

I would say that Lennon has better movement and possibly pace but his crossing and shooting still need to improve. Pennant is a very good crosser of the ball on the other hand. I have to say that I think Lennon is the better player but it is a tight call and only Pennant is available.

In my opinion Lennon and SWP don't have the quality in terms of final ball which Pennant has.
SWP has a better shot and is possibly a better dribbler
Lennon has a rubbish shot but is also a very good dribbler.

Just an opinion, I think the only English right midfielder who has a better final ball than Pennant is Beckham
rnm is funny, funny like funny haha.

          Goals 2006/7 (CS, PL, CL)
1: Agger, Bellamy, Fowler, Alonso, Garcia
          2: Gonzalez, Kuyt, Riise

I forgot about SWP. He used to be good I hear.

I think it's coceivable that we'll sign both Pennant and Alvez since we also need cover at RB having only Finnan and a soon to depart Kromkamp ( if you believe the rumours ). I have an uninformed hunch that we're not as poor as Rafa has been claiming.
Alvez Pennant Finnan gives us 3 players for 2 positions, a good ratio I feel.

Lennon will beat his man more often than Pennant, and has a more pace.
Pennant has a far better final ball and is actually a surprisingly decent tackler.

With an out and out winger on the left I don't see it as a problem that Pennant's speciality is not dribbling, he's hardly slow and rubbish at dribbling anyway. He'll provide us with a nice balance IMO, and people will be quite surprised at his quality.

While I'd much prefer Alves. I'd be happy up JP. I think it's difficult to disagree that he would improve the squad. Given the dearth of quality right wingers I'm not sure that there is a realistic alternative and Birminghman know this.

Consider the upside, he may not be the best but this will be the first time we have had a bona-fide right winger since McMoneyman. That makes me feel better.

Nunez was a bona-fide right winger

No, the useless cnut was more of a "lawyer" by trade, and there was that fabulous story that he had never, not ONCE, completed 90 minutes of professional football in his LIFE.

He was one of the most laughable, embarrassing transfers in our history, and YET ANOTHER example of Real Madrid heartily p1ssing all over our faces.

Yep. We all know he wanted Nando or Juanfran as part of the deal, they just fobbed us off with Nunez.
