Totally agreed re Nunez. I actually liked the lad, despite his obvious inadequacies, simply because he was so obviously a trier. He played his heart out for us, which was, in a way, refreshing to see after the likes of Heskey, Cheyrou et al.

Aye, just read that. While I'm not exactly jumping for joy about this, I'm pleased we've got that much needed specialist right winger in. If Rafa thinks he'll do the business than I ain't gonna argue.

I just hope we've not been ripped off.

Latest news filtering through is that....

PENNANT IS IN LIVERPOOL NOW AND IS ON THE BRINK OF SIGNING FOR 6.2M.

Yikes, I'm not sure about this one at all, smacks of transfer desperation as far as I'm concerned. I seriously hope Jermaine Pennant realises Rafa's given him a lifeline with this one, he doesn't really deserve this oportunity.

No second chances with us Pennant. None. At. All.

If anyone said we'd sign Pennant a year ago for 6.2m he'd had been vilified!

Truth is, he's a very useful player - though not exactly a SWP or a lennon.

Hopefully Rafa will succeed were wenger has failed. Cripey, nothing against Rafa but not many not many managers have succeeded were Arsene has failed.

Hope this has freed enough money for another top quality striker. At the end of the day i'm actually happy we have some genuine pace in our squad now (coupled with the other signings) something i'm sure Rafa has been hell bent on addressing this summer.

Oh, and Brendan who the **** are you? You've a helluva lot of arrogance.

It's called getting players off the wage bill.

I doubt whether we'd ask for a price for Diao or Potter.
Get the fcuking blinkers off, lids.

At the time Benitez came out with a load of ****e about "wanting Nunez anyway" and implying that he would have signed Clunez regardless of the Owen deal.

I didn't *quite* believe that either.

He got jibbed. End of story. AGAIN. (cf Morientes)

The whole Owen deal was making the best of a bad situation - he was joining them regardless, it was upto Parry and Benitez to try and get what they could.

Nunez did show promise, did try hard, had some skill, but sadly isn't as fit as what a modern day footballer should be and couldn't adapt to the Premiership hussle. The fact that Rafa indentified that Nunez was never going to make an impact he was off back to Spain..... imagine the same situation but with Houllier in charge, Nunez would still be here... and we'd all be tearing our hair out.
