JOHN TERRY urges referee respect plans!!!!!

Chelsea captain John Terry says he would back plans to stamp out the hounding of referees.
Terry was speaking in light of criticism directed towards Chelsea for their disrespectful behaviour towards Mike Riley on Wednesday night.

It was the latest in a series of incidents which have led for calls to introduce new rules that would only allow captains to speak to referees.

"I think it'll be one of them where I'll have to give it a go," said Terry.

"But if it doesn't work then the FA will have to say no, it isn't working," he told BBC Radio 5 Live's Sportsweek programme.

Chelsea players surrounded referee Riley appearing to bully him out of red carding Ashley Cole following a late tackle on Alan Hutton during Wednesday's 4-4 draw with Tottenham.

Cole has been widely condemned for his behaviour towards Riley to whom he refused to acknowledge or even look at as the referee attempted to yellow card him.

But Terry has defended the behaviour of the Chelsea players following the incident.

"It is a natural reaction," he said.

"The fans show their frustration and the players do the same because they are passionate about the game.

"I do agree there has to be a line drawn and confronting the referee has to be taken out of the game."

The behaviour of footballers and the standard of tackling has come under intense scrutiny in recent weeks but Terry does not believe the game has changed or that challenges or attitudes are getting worse.

"I personally don't think it has got out of hand and I don't think it is any worse than it used to be," he said.

"It is just being publicised and spoken about a bit more at the moment.

"These tackles have gone on for years and have never been spoken of before.

"Usually it was just a yellow card and everyone would get on with it. Now it is spoken about on television and publicised in the papers and ex-referees are given their views and the game has moved on a lot."

Is he taking the piss? The biggest referee-hounding bully-boy in the business? Arrogant piece of ****.

Since he is a captain I think he should do this. I would ask Gerrard why he (as a captain) didn't step in front of Javier when he "attacked" Bennet.

attacked?!?!? really? he questioned bennet nothing more. gerard was nowhere near when it happened. i want to know why alonso let masher go after he initially grabbed him.

as for the terry interview, good idea only letting the captain speak to the ref.
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

10+ years of Roy Keane and co intimidaiting refs. 5 years of Terry and co doing the same. Mascherano gets ****ed over so the FA can send a message. ****ing cosmetic, it's not justice, it's ****ing bollocks. John Terry is a hypocrite son of a scouse-cock-gobbler.

I had a massive aarguement with my wife today over this. She is a man u fan since the early 70's but when that asshole Fergis said today that Masher was giving gib and should have been sent off I went mad, we didn't talk for a while. I now hope a yellow card will be given with every bit of dissent after this.

it's a huge double standard, there's just no comparison between how Liverpool players conduct themselves vs. the scum and chavski. anyone who watches football knows that. one week of bull**** in the press and steve "i want to be in the papers too" bennett makes an example of masher so he can get a pat on the back for being brave enough to do so. **** off

bennett has set the standard now, if we don't see this happening to the other top teams then we'll know we've been ****ed yet again

Terry has launched his charm offensive in the media lately so he'll retain the armband for england. Too bad the cunt has peaked and will only get worse, his decline is going to be rapid. Bit off topic there but was talking with a mate who is a scout for Boro and quite a few people he has talked to think Terry is on the way down. Playing with jar jar binks and Ricardo Carvalho have covered his weaknesses for years, fact is he's slow and a poor one on one defender. he reads the game well and gives his all, but he's an overrated chavvy tosser imo and never an england captain. in short **** john terry

There is a vast difference between a captain respectfully discussing things with the referee when there is definite need to do so and what Terry does, which is bring his whole gang along to berate the ref practically every single time the chavs don't get their own way. It's calculated intimidation. Gerrard is too quiet when it comes to defending our players' interests, but no way would I want him stooping to Terry's level.
