In fairness any winger who scores 35+ goals a season is an exceptional player.

He is an exceptional player anyway but I don't consider Ronaldo to be an orthodox winger.

We are accustomed to think of wingers as midfielders but Ronaldo is definately a forward.

over the past year or 2 he has just been getting better and better. I'm not sure where he has found this goal streak from but it is incredible. I used to think Kaka was the best, but even he just can not touch Ronaldos form of late.

I think it gets caught under him and rather than turn he just flicks it and it goes in. Could have gone anywhere or deflected off anyone.

He's having a good season, everything is going right for him, but I don't think he's the best player in the world. He's just in really good form. Overhyped and people are creaming themselves over him, but that's nothing new, it happens with every player who has a good season

Interesting stat: he leads the league in shots on goal with 93, Rooney in second with 56, Gerrard with 54 in third. That's quite a bit of shooting from the ponce

Has never ran and changed a big game against quality opposition. Struggled against us and Arse this season when tightly marked.! I don't care what anyone says but the best player in the world should be judged on how he plays against good teams in big games and tough situations. Alot of people just assume he played well because he scored. In the big games i would have more faith in the likes of Kaka Messi and Fabergas!
He will get world player of the year but for me it is the hype surrounding him!
Credit to him though his goals return is unbelievable!

The fact is though he is a winger or forward - those type of players don't run a game. They create and score goals. He has done that even if he has only been influencial in parts against us, Chelsea, Milan, Roma and for Portugal the Netherlands. All of the criticisms leveled at Ronaldo could be aimed at Gerrard and to some extent to all the players named so far as alternatives if you discount moments of brilliance and demand 90 minute wonder shows.

I'm not sure that there is any point in deciding on a world's best player but like it or not there are very few players most of us would want to play against our team any less.
