He will always regret leaving Liverpool. Always. What a waste of the best playing years of his career.

Yeah it's a real shame, seeing him in a Newcastle top still leaves a sour taste.

But no-one can question his ability to bounce, ****ing hell how many times has he been written off at club level and international level and bounced back??

Despite what that **** Hoddle said, Owen has always been a natural goalscorer IMO, so he will continue to bang them in. Unfortunately to no avail seeing as he is in a ****e team.

I don't really think he's wasted any of his LFC playing time with all things taken into account. He's not the sort of player Benitez wants leading the line, his work rate isn't there and he doesn't have the physical presence Benitez wants. He'd have been a impact player from the bench much like Crouch so I think he'd have left sooner or later.

He did very well for us and should be remembered as such but I don't see him as being good enough for a Premiership winning team anymore.

            That's the bottom line.

It is interesting, he has added a lot to his game since he left us in terms of not simply being the target of a long ball. His deployment behind two strikers has been very effective for Newcastle. I actually think he has a lot to offer as a squad member. I don't think we have the cash to bring him in as such though so that is a non-starter (he wouldn't be a valid alternative to Torres really either). Would he have done the same with us if he had stayed maybe. Would his injuries have meant we still needed another striker anyway - almost certainly.

I agree he does have plenty to offer but he's a lad that wants to play every week and every England game so I don't think he would ever have accepted a bit part role like Crouch seems to. In his best days he was an absolute menace but mainly because of his pace combined with brilliant finishing ability and his pace isn't what it was.

I just don't think he could/ would be willing to come back and accept a squad position here now and I don't think he's good enough to lead the line as an out and out forward so it's best all round that he went when he did IMO.
