    Avram Grants Post Match Interview:

    Went as follows:

    A deserved win Avram?
    Grant said: 'Yes.'

What particularly pleased you about the performance?
    'I'm pleased.'

    What in particular pleased you?
After an eight second delay: 'I don't know.'

Is it a relief to win here?
    'Yes.'

You seem lost for words by the performance. Are you more satisfied with the performance or the victory?
    'Both.'

You seem distracted. Do you have a problem?
    'No problem.'

    Is there an issue?
'No. I'm ok. I have nothing to say.'

Do you have a message for the Chelsea fans?
    'You represent the Chelsea fans?'

They must believe you are still in the title race, do you have a message for them?
    'No message.'

Does this result mean you are back in it now?
    'I don't know.'

How many steps have you climbed to undertake this press conference?
    'I don't know.'

You seem less voluble than usual. Is it because of Sky TV moving the game to a Thursday?
'Maybe it's because of you. I don't know. I am ok.'

You are saying that you don't know if you are still in the title race?
'No.' Is it easier to say nothing Avram?
'I don't what to answer. It is a good question. I don't know what to answer.'

    Is this because of Sky?
'No. Sky is ok. I enjoy watching them.'

Is it a protest against newspapers?
    'No. Why?'

Why else would you come in and refuse to answer our questions?
    'I answer every question.'

You are two points behind Manchester United and you don't know if you are still in the title race?
    'No.'

Have you told the players that you don't know if you are back in the title race?
'What I tell the players is something else. You want me to tell you what I say to the players?'

We just want you to answer the question really. Are you in the title race?
    'I don't know.'

Would you not like to gain some positive publicity for the result rather than this bizarre silence?
'I'm sorry. You can write whatever you want and I can answer what I want.'

Do you feel under pressure to deliver a trophy. Is that the reason for the monosyllabic answers?
    'No.'

Are you upset? Do you feel you have been misrepresented?
'Maybe I have said because it is a bad season.'

    Did Michael Essien faint?
'He had some problems, but he is ok.'

    Michael Ballack?
    'Injured.'

    What's his problem?
    'Ask the doctor.'

    He's not here Avram.
    'Well call him then.'

I don't think anybody would misinterpreted and believed you liked him in a gay way.

              Haha.

Strange though...he seemed okay with the BBC?

Chelsea boss Avram Grant said he was delighted with their 1-0 win at Everton and praised his players for their performance at Goodison Park.

Chelsea go two points behind Manchester United in the Premier League and Grant said: "It was a good victory, I am very happy with it, we controlled the game.

"We had chances to make it 2-0 or 3-0 but our last pass was a bit sloppy. We scored a fantastic goal though.

"Despite all the speculation, it's not hard to focus. It's just part of life."

Grant has come under severe pressure from the media after Chelsea were held 1-1 at home by Wigan on Monday, a result that dented their title aspirations.

But he says they learned from that result and that it showed as they held on to the three points at Everton.

"On Monday after the game we spoke about how we conceded the late goal," added Grant.

"Even towards the end we were attacking with six or seven players and they scored the equaliser on the counter-attack, but I like it because we want to change the style of the team.

"Tonight we wanted to score again to wrap it up, but in the last few minutes it is important to make sure you win the points.

"I have been in life for many years now and pressure is part of it. Journalists who say we are having a bad season are trying to do their job, but maybe sometimes not in the right way."

                    Yeah I like him too.

I hate how the media have given him a relentless kicking, with the reason usually "he just doesn't have the charisma of Mourinho..."

Who gives a ****? Since when has charisma had anything to do with football management?

Couldn't agree more. They (the media) just want Mourinho MKII, and it appears the Chelsea fans also do, as I don't think Grant is very popular with them.
This thing about their style of football too - well that's nothing new - they played like that under Mourinho.

Can't see Grant at the helm next season.

It's the same with Rafa. When the media see an amiable guy in front of them they'll ask stupid questions, disrespect and misrepresent them because they know they're too polite/ classy to go off on one. Fergie and Wenger to an extent are another kettle if fish as the journos know that if they ask the wrong question or step out of line they'll get a two word response and no more interviews.

I'd still much rather have our friendly Spaniard even if the media get off on asking him awkward questions to put him on the spot.

                            Quite right.

Grant is charismatic in other ways. He is really cheesed off with the press and their constant hounding and the FA, I presume, for changing the fixture to a Thursday. I also think he is feeling the pressure and the answers reflect that.
