This is what happens if you don't please red nose

Axed ref Rob Styles pays penalty
    Exclusive by Darren Lewis 23/04/2008

Controversial referee Rob Styles has been dropped to League Two this weekend after failing to award two penalties in favour of Manchester United against Blackburn.

Styles will run the derby between Shrewsbury and Chester - the first time this season he has refereed outside the top flight.

The Hampshire official ignored United's pleas for spot-kicks in their 1-1 draw at Blackburn when Wayne Rooney was brought down by Steven Reid, and when Michael Carrick's shot was handled by Brett Emerton.

Last month Styles, 44, stunned Man City fans at Birmingham by awarding a penalty against Sun Jihai when TV replays showed Gary McSheffrey had instigated a shoulder to shoulder collision outside the area.

Styles was also forced into an apology to Liverpool in August after wrongly awarding Chelsea a penalty at Anfield.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

    FFS.

Styles is a tool but neither of those were pens. Rooney dived for ****s sake. A pathetic, embarrassing dive.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Although he should be demoted for not sending Rooney off - first for his terrible challenge, and then for effin and blindin at him for ages afterwards.

To be fair to Styles. He is only doing what Roman pays him to do.

Not sure what the problem is here. He was demoted after *that* penalty he gave chelsea too.

I thought the Emerton one should have been awarded to be honest. Rooney's ankles were tapped but he then flopped to the floor and looked ridiculous.

Actually, wasn't he just given a weekend off rather than being demoted? And anyway this time he's been demoted to league 2, it's like because the mancs were involved the punishment has to be worse. And they weren't exactly outrageous decisions like the penalty he gave against us was.

This together with the Masch two game extra ban shows how much the Mancs have the FA in their back pocket.

Surely being booted off the 'refereeing rota' altogether is worse than being given a lower division game?

Can't believe you're arguing this point.
