When EFC moved across the park they didn't move the current company but setup a totally new one. Liverpool FC is just a renaming of the existing club and therefore we could, in theory, claim the league championship that Everton won in the 1890s as the company (which is the club after all) and owner is the same.

I suppose it's like the MK Dons saying that they won the 88 FA Cup. It's the same club but under a different name.
