    my initial reaction is

Stupid decision, he should be given time to build. etc

then i stopped and thought while it is a stupid decision maybe what goes around comes around. he didnt see anything wrong with speaking to the chavs when Ranieri was in charge so mixed feelings i suppose.

New managers should have a clause in their contracts saying they will be given atleast three yrs before facing the sack.

I don't think that is sensible either. Some managers just don't fit a club or set of players or demands and there is no point forcing a club to have to put up with mis-management due to some obscure idea of principle.

On the Eriksson question I think he did the season the wrong way round and had he over the season gradually built up to the sort of form they showed at the start of the season he would be fine. As it is however he has failed to gel a set of players into a team over the season and has spent a lot of money. Personally I would give him another season but I can see why overall Shinawatra would consider this season to be a failure and presuming that it was Sven's choice who was bought in (including the numbers of players) then I think he has to be held responsible for the team/squads performance.

That said I do think that the instant success drive has become insane in the PL. All of the new owners can't live up to what they have claimed as their is obviously only 4 CL spots and there are now a large number of squads of decent quality competing for the UEFA spots even. It has also been seen that the likes of Hughes, Moyes and before them Alladyce given time can have a club over performing (compared to their financial means) on a consistent basis given stability. However it is about getting the right manager for the right club, There has never been a good long term outlook for a club in the PL that persevered with Bryan Robson for example.

The thing is Shinawatra and Eriksson drew up a list of aims for the season. The first one was to finish in the top 10. He's going to achieve that, yet he's still gonna get the sack - WTF?

There isn't a single City fan who wants this to happen. Also Nedam Onuoha gave an interview to SSN yesterday and he seemed appalled and upset by it.

If Shinawatra has a modicum of sense and PR nous, he will bow to the fans/players wishes and keep Eriksson on. Only then will he have the backing of the supporters. If he presses ahead with it, knowing full well how the fans feel but disregarding their views anyway, he will be right up against it in the middle of a ****storm.

No-brainer as far as I'm concerned.

I would suspect that he is playing more to his home market than the local City supporters. He wants to be seen as a strong leader and the end of this season has been a complete damp squib from the team.

I also think a lot of players like Sven but few of them for England or for City this season seem really to have improved. Maybe they like him because he is a nice guy and makes it a pleasant working environment but that isn't the best thing for their development?

It is sad to see such a high turn over of managers though I agree and I think the City fans can rightly feel that they have lost some of the soul of their club.

I remember how only a few months ago a number of people were complaining that we should have taken Sinawatras money. I think the way things have panned out has shown that he too was a pretty piss poor choice.

And to think he was looking to buy us.

              Thaksin Shinawatra or Hicks

              Tough one.

                I am surprised by this.

Because I was under the impression Thaksin was a nice, easy going, decent sort of chap who always played by the rules !

Maybe Moores and Parry should get credit for not selling to him

Read yesterday I think that Ericssons agent said that a link to Benfica could become reality and that he kept his options open for now... He might not have to much time left at city

This is a disgrace if it happens.

Citeh had a fantastic first half to the season and although they've crumbled since then they've achieved a good overall league position. They seem to have a decent squad and were a threat before Christmas - they also beat United which was nice!

Thaskin would be mad to get rid of Sven as I think he's done a great job there so far and could improve again next season.

We care because some of us are football fans and they did the double over United.

why do we care about Sven?

Sven didnt care when he was afte Claudios job at Chelsea did he?

                            how is this different?
on a footballing level yes its a stupid one but what goes around comes around.

That'll bring them back to zero then.

Going to Benfica so he isn't getting sacked. Saves Thaksin a couple of billion unlike the FA.
