Looks like he was from that vid, he's the one who rushed at the marshal, not the other way round, with the intent of swinging (and missing).

Posted this vid yesterday on the Chav v Scum thread, what people made of it was.....Disappointment that Evra didn't get punched. I thought when i put it up that he got caught, but others after studying slow mo say he hit his head on a stewards shoulder. I'm undecided.

According to French TV, he was provoked and called a '****ing Immigrant' or something of the sort. That can be explained as to why he rushed at the guy.

It doesn't matter who started it or who said what to whom. There is no defence for players getting involved in this sort of incident. If they let this go then it's a green light for any player at anytime to do a Cantona and launch into the crowd at the first person that says anything derogatory to them. Players must ignore any provocation and walk away.

Heard something about Racial comments, but some of the Chav stewards etc could have that insult aimed at them too, think the guy aiming the punch looks like he could be of mixed parentage also. it's a mad mad world.

I read that the groundsman lists his hobbies as drinking and reading books on football violence on his myspace/facebook.

there was other trouble recently at the Bridge with steward violence wasn't there? they seem to employ ex boot-boys, not like the high standard we have.
