    Flamini

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Matthieu Flamini has told his Arsenal team-mates that he will be joining AC Milan.

It has been looking increasingly likely for a few weeks now that Flamini will be leaving Arsenal at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old, who is rated as one of Europe’s best centre midfielders, has not signed an extension to his Gunners contract that runs out in June, and his manager Arsene Wenger has been resigned to losing him.

An April 30 deadline had been set by him for a decision to be made "either way," but with Flamini refusing to put pen on paper, the slimmest of hopes have now disappeared.

Juventus and Milan have been the two main teams tussling for his signature, and last week it was reported in the Italian press that the latter had won the fight.

Today the Corriere dello Sport claims that Flamini has notified his Arsenal team-mates where his future lies next season.

“I have decided that I will be going to Milan,” the Frenchman purportedly said in the dressing room.

Yesterday Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti revealed how much he would love to have Flamini.

"Along with Gattuso and Ambrosini, he can bring strength and substance without losing any quality," declared Carletto. "Flamini has exceptional dynamism, he can play three roles, even in front of defence."

Flamini signed for Arsenal in 2004 from Marseille, and has since made over 100 appearances for the North London outfit.

Very strange that Flamini and possibly Hleb want to jump ship. Wenger could have problems.

I think its weird that Flamini has been on the fringes of the side for a few years and when he really showed what he can do in midfield, he decides to jump ship.

Something is wrong at Arsenal I think.
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

I saw Derby v Arsenal on Monday night at Pride Park...they looked awesome at times...but Fabregas wasn't the same with Flamini not there. Flamini is a damn good player. I'd rather get him than Barry

Hleb was linked strong with Inter in recent weeks.

The excellent, younger, Flamini on a free transfer.

Or the mediocre Gareth Barry for £12m.

Such a hard choice eh. Doubt Flamini will choose us ahead of Milan, Juve etc.

Barry is much better with the ball at his feet than Flamini. Also very different players IMO. Flamini would compete for Masher's place if he played for us.

And he ain't gonna get that.

Agree with that Shaggy. I swear it's the same posters consistently finding negatives in everything we do. How do they get through the day?

Flamini's excellent on the ball mate, ok he's hardly a Alonso or Scholes but he does it very well, if we could get him in for free it would be a good deal.

The only thing Barry has over him is his English passport and set pieces.

Its the only thing Barry excels at. He's quite a mediocre player outside of that.

Are we signing him just because he's Gerrard's mate?

I think it depends what you mean by better with the ball at his feet. For me Flamini is an excellent long passer and would be a more dynamic but otherwise direct Xabi replacement. Barry however is better at moving the ball quickly around in short spaces and supporting the attack. I would rate Flamini as the better player but I doubt he would ever come and I feel we might better alter the balance of our team by having to more attack minded Barry in the team.

Flamini would also provide competition to Mascher which would be nice but like I said I don't think it is an option.

Well obviously Fabio Capello and Benitez believe otherwise. And Martin O'Neill in fact, as Villa are desperate to keep him.
